Episcopal Youth Community

 

At Saint Mark’s students who have chosen to be confirmed, and any guest they choose, have the privilege of joining the EYC, the Episcopal Youth Community of St. Mark’s.  This group engages the practice of Christianity in several ways.  We meet weekly, following the Sunday 6:00PM service for the purpose of reflection and fellowship, usually over a meal.  In addition, we explore the meaning of Christian service through a variety of community service projects throughout the year that include everything from building projects, to serving food, to singing carols. 

 

The EYC takes very seriously the Christian formation of its members.  One powerful way we practice this is by traveling together in pilgrimage and in service.  One to two times per year, the group spends time together in active Christian mission, whether that be a week of prayer at the Taize monastery, or a building project in Texas, or pastoral care at a refugee center in Rome.

 

Our summer service mission trips took us to Honduras, where we built both relationships with our Honduran neighbors and the roof of a church and then to Heifer International's Overlook Farm, a working and educational agroecological center.
