Friends of Music – Organist Christopher Houlihan

Our next Friends of Music event – mark your calendars!  Organist Christopher Houlihan on Sunday, March 10, at 5pm.  A “passionate and intelligently virtuoso musician” (Gramophone) hailed for “glowing, miraculously life-affirming performances.” (Los Angeles TimesMr. Houlihan, widely acknowledged as one of the brightest stars in the new generation of American organists, will offer a program of works by known – and unknown – composers.  Most notable will be the extraordinary Suite No. 1, by the African American composer Florence Price; and a transcription of Maurice Ravel’s Ma Mère l’Oye (“Mother Goose Suite”) of 1910.  A live video relay of Mr. Houlihan’s performance at the St. Mark’s organ console will be available to the audience via a camera and large screen.  This event will be co-sponsored by the Fairfield West Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and will be followed by a reception.
