Friends of Music – Organist Christopher Houlihan
March 10 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Our next Friends of Music event – mark your calendars! Organist Christopher Houlihan on Sunday, March 10, at 5pm. A “passionate and intelligently virtuoso musician” (Gramophone) hailed for “glowing, miraculously life-affirming performances.” (Los Angeles Times) Mr. Houlihan, widely acknowledged as one of the brightest stars in the new generation of American organists, will offer a program of works by known – and unknown – composers. Most notable will be the extraordinary Suite No. 1, by the African American composer Florence Price; and a transcription of Maurice Ravel’s Ma Mère l’Oye (“Mother Goose Suite”) of 1910. A live video relay of Mr. Houlihan’s performance at the St. Mark’s organ console will be available to the audience via a camera and large screen. This event will be co-sponsored by the Fairfield West Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and will be followed by a reception.
